Once upon a time in a land far, far away called San Jose lived a little princess named Holly. More than anything in the whole wide world Holly wanted a baby sister for her very own. She knew exactly what she had to do. She had to pray and ask the good Lord for a baby sister. Yes, her mommy and daddy tried to suggest that sometimes even when we ask God to give us something His answer may not be what we had in mind but she was not going to be deterred from getting her heart’s desire so pray she did everyday until…
She got a baby sister and then…
she got another baby sister and then…
along came another baby sister!
What a lucky princess Holly was! If pressed she will admit that she is so lucky to be surrounded by sisters (and a little brother) but I would bet that she would also have to agree with the old saying of “be careful what you pray for”. As for me, well, I’m glad that she prayed for a baby sister.
Home again, here we are and just in time to pack one clown off to camp and two others plus my Ringmaster off to Las Vegas for Dance Nationals. Off they go as soon as we finish up some laundry.
The kid has quite the fan base already thanks to a tour bus full of grandmas from Palm Desert at the restaurant last night so she is now traveling like a movie star.
We have taken the circus on the road for a few days arriving in the lovely town of Seaside, California. It is about 30° cooler and definitely less smoky. The smoke from the Big Sur fire is actually being blown southwest of where we are as the fog is beginning to gently roll in. Here is the view from our hotel balcony.
The road trip was uneventful considering I had two car seats and four circus clowns in the car with me. Well okay, Hazel did loudly protested the fact that she had to eat and burp while strapped in her car seat but she soon accepted that this was a losing battle no matter how loudly she cried. Here she is right before we left ready for her first big road trip.
Consider this to be your “Daily Hazel”.
In other news, Daniel has lost yet another tooth. It fell out while we were on the road. The amazing thing is this time he did not swallow the tooth which is a milestone in of itself. Looks like the tooth fairy will have something to retrieve tonight.
Of course we are having fun having him repeat Seaside is super-fabulous!
Well that is the headlines for today for now. I am off to find the Piña Colada that has my name on it and kick back on my hotel balcony to breathe in the salty sea air.
With the promise of more extreme heat, unhealthy, smoke-filled air, no Delta breezes and random blackouts and brownouts, I think it is a good time to escape.
This looks like a good place to juggle away from home.
Now I’m humming that old Rupert Holmes song, Escape (The Piña Colada Song). I know what I’ll be having when we get to the hotel.
