That’s right. I’m not in Chicago with all the lady (and occasional guy) bloggers again this year. Bitter? perhaps just a little. I’ll get over it I’m sure. Although I really, really wanted to take part with the unofficial BlogHer 5K along the Lake Shore. But who am I kidding? My luck is I would be partying it up too much at all the parties, especially the Cheezburger party that there would be no way I could drag my hungover, tired ass out of bed to run 3.1 miles. Just being real here people.
It just wasn’t meant to be this year. Bill was out of work for well over a year, we just got back from a week long vacation/dance competition just four days ago and I already was in Chicago last month for a neonatal conference. BlogHer-er’s if you find my graffiti tags that I left throughout Chicago DM me on Twitter for your fabulous prize. Please note you must provide photo proof because like Kate Gosselin’s reverse mullet on other folks if you don’t capture it with a camera it doesn’t exist. Meanwhile, my decision several months ago to skip BlogHer ‘09 proved to be a wise choice. Jodie and I got sick a few weeks ago which meant time off work for me and Bill just this month FINALLY returned to work working 6 10 hour days over at Stanford. The commute is a killer so he is staying over in the Bay Area with a friend which means the rest of the circus would be home alone here under the Big Top had I gone to Chicago. So one could say that after weighing all the pros and cons out I chose wisely this year.
Next year though…well, I have committed to several blogging pals that I will be there at BlogHer 10. I have to be. I will be. I want to be. Please, dear Lord, let no disaster strike that will keep me from making it…please, pretty please!
In the meantime, I am keeping myself busy rather than wallow in bitter whining over the fact that I am not in Chicago dealing with crazy traffic because Obama is in town too or dodging the rain or not winning $4,000 swag bags at one of the many parties. No, I am here juggling as usual: taking Daniel to swim lessons, Jodie to youth group, chasing our upwardly mobile grandchild when her mama is at work, saving sick babies this weekend because yes, I’m working this weekend, buying hubs the perfect tie to wear to his sister’s wedding next month as well as FINALLY finding the perfect dress for me to wear there too, packing up and getting rid of all my pre-Shredheads clothes, trying out for Manteca Idol this time with my kids’ blessings and, if I’m lucky, cleaning my bathroom.
And although I imagine blogging will be light I am checking out BlogHer@Home and BlogHop ‘09 and their many activities and, oh yes, swag.
And if that isn’t enough, there is a whole lot of dancing going on here this weekend under the Big Top.
Oh yeah, baby, Hazel IS Sasha Fierce! Seriously, who could ask for anything more?
