I haven’t had the chance to share that I am now sharing my adventures in juggling on a brand, new, shiny Vaio notebook. I have been considering this for a few months now thinking of passing on my old laptop on to Zoë after we had made a deal regarding her school performance last year. She followed through but I was yet to because I am the queen of procrastination here under the Big Top. So just as I am thinking, “Hmmm…. there are lots of back to school deals on laptops. Maybe I need to check this out…” My workhorse of a laptop suddenly stopped functioning properly.

Thank goodness we have the extended warranty, I think. I’ll take it in to the Geek Squad type folks, get it fixed and get myself a new laptop…a shiny, new one. Ooooohhh!! So while the Geeks are scratching their heads over what the heck is wrong with this computer…and they are, I picked up a new Vaio FW notebook.

I am so far very happy with its overall performance. No, this is not a commercial for the Vaio FW Notebook because we bought it, they didn’;t give it to us. Still, Sony could always take notice here and offer compensation :::hint-hint::::. Nevertheless, I am liking my new notebook. The only drawback so far? It is too big with its 17 inches of width to fit in my laptop case. Because I do take my laptop when I juggle away from home, I need some sort of case that it can fit into.

So today I headed over to the local “That was easy” office-type store to see if I could find a simple protective case to fit my wider notebook. I found one and and while I was carefully looking it over to see if it might meet my needs, a helpful, young salesman steps up to see if he could be of any assistance. I thank him telling him I was looking for a 17 inch case for my notebook. I hold up the one in my hands telling him  that I think I have found one. It is rather colorful…maybe a little too colorful for my taste but it is 17 inches. At least I found one. Perhaps I can find one that better suits my taste I think to myself. I guess that is what my face was saying because the sales-dude suggests I would be happier with a different one as he holds up a solid black case. It too would meet my needs since it is the same as the colorful one. It is just black…plain black.

Forgive me but I couldn’t resist…

I playfully ask the happy, young sales-dude if the plain black on e better suits me because I am “a little older” than his college age self. He blushes and sheepishly offers that it is more conservative than the other one. “So it would better serve the forty-something person like myself?” I ask. Again he blushes and smiles affirming my conclusion as he tells me the one with colorful stripes and polka dots really is more for kids. “Way to make a sale, dude!” I congratulate.

I bought the plain, black sleeve. Not because it is better suited for my old self but because it was on sale, serves my immediate needs and because I really didn’t care for the crazy stripes and polka dots. It clashes with my handbag.

I guess the young, sales-dude was right…unless there is a stylish laptop bag out there that some company would want me to try out. I would be more than happy to test drive and review one.

Oh the sacrifices I make sometimes. But I am a mom and well, that is what we do best.

Seriously, anyone want to recommend a stylish, not necessarily black, laptop bag for my 17 inch laptop?

Now how in the world did I get this black eye? I swear no tequila was harmed the night before. Thank goodness for my Bare Minerals! Now to go and put some makeup on before I seriously frighten someone.
