Some days one HAS to spit up and get wet a few times in order to be dressed in the outfit of our choosing. This is one of those days.

curb appeal

June 30, 2008 · 3 Comments

My landscaping sucks. It’s my own fault because I hate gardening enough not to figure out how to juggle that into my act. Bill is actually in charge of the outdoor maintenance and grooming and given his crazy commute to the Bay Area 4-5 days a week (unless he is laid off which he is right now) he keeps the outdoor view on the low maintenance regimen. I confess somedays I wish that we could afford the luxury of a gardener.

Still I had a very colorful outdoor landscape this past week thanks to the artistic design team that is my circus clowns and their arsenal of sidewalk chalk and paint. They managed to get their latest work done before the air quality got too bad.

Because it will the law July 1 here in Cali and because I really have no desire to resemble a schizophrenic, homeless cyborg while running errands, I am now hooked up with this.

“You always dress [baby] girls up as old people. The other day, my little girl was wearing a purple spandex flowery pair of pants and a top with a basket of fruit on it as a design. My mom came around the corner wearing the same outfit [Reagan] had on!”

Larry the Cable Guy to Jay Leno on similarities between his 8-month-old daughter and 73-year-old mother’s outfits.

Thanks to the Celebrity Baby Blog for the quote.

rub-a-dub-dub, Hazel is in the tub! For many newborns a bath can be torture, for little Miss Hazel, it is like a spa day.

In spite of the bad air alerts, Hazel and mommy had to go out and about to the pediatrician and to WIC. She is growing and thriving weighing in at 9lbs 6oz now.

Jodie proudly snapped this picture of her “sad” cereal that she created.

It’s nice to know that my kids are using their minds and being creative during their summer vacation!

I see you in the smoky air

Smoky sunset

We are no where near any of the wildfires raging here in Northern California but the smoky air seems pretty well settled here in the Central Valley. It just is not getting better although the weather folk keep promising that it will get better…tomorrow. In fact today were it not for the muggy temps in the 90s one might think it is a typical, foggy winter’s day here in my neck of the woods.
