Holly’s baby shower was a huge success this past Sunday. Much to my relief, because I am no Martha Stewart, everything about the day was nearly perfect. The food was great. The company was the best. The games that Holly’s friend, Amber, hosted were perfect. There is nothing better than watching people openly smelling “poopy” diapers in their quest to guess what kind of melted candy bar is inside each diaper. One thing that everyone must know is that the belly game was not fixed. One might suggest that it was either fixed or pure luck that Jodie guessed the exact measurement of Holly’s 33 weeks’ gestation belly but they would be wrong. It’s just that strange sister connection of knowing your sister better than anyone else in the room ever could. It really was a randomly perfect moment as both Holly and Jodie simultaneously gasped in surprised at that moment.
If you are really into baby showers, as all the guys in attendance there under the Big Top were, you can check out the photos here.
Holly was very much overwhelmed by all the attention, love and generosity family and friends poured out over her and her baby. That’s what a shower is, I told her. Still, I find myself overwhelmed too. Everyone was indeed very generous as they shared their excitement, joy and love all wrapped up in pretty pink bows and baby-themed wrap. I am also overwhelmed with all the baby crap necessities that has taken over my sitting room. At least I don’t have to worry about Holly complaining that there is nothing to do for awhile. She has a long list of thank you notes to write as well as find a place for all the baby swag. By the time she gets that done it should be time for this coming attraction to arrive.

Seriously I hate that baby poop game. I have too much PTSD to participate. It sounds like a fun time was had by all.

Wow! I looked at all the shower photos…that brought back memories. It’s so fun opening all those baby gifts. It really makes the coming attraction feel REAL. Those tiny sneakers…so cute!
